DAD'S CONTRIBUTION

Well, after numerous hints, dad finally upped himself to build a trellis-like structure for my expanding garden.
A typical engineer, he wanted it to be solid and sturdy, right-angled, etc....

 So, finally, I have something for my climbers.It's a 15' by 5' structure.

So big, I've yet to decide what to plant there. Beans? Bitter gourd? Angle gourd? Passion fruit? Angle-beans?

Toto had to join in the fun by running away with dad's pencil !

People who are not into gardening asked me what thrill I get from this activity. Well, apart from a bit of outdoor exercise, I find it therapeutic just to mess around with the plants. The thrill of seeing the shoots grow to large edible plants. I did a bit of calculation. After the initial outlay, I do save a tidy sum on food bills. One packet of seeds costs RM 3.50. I only use 1/2 pack and I get 6 - 8 batches of leafy greens. A bundle of leafy greens now costs as much as RM4.00. Go calculate!! Besides, it's organic

THE (ALMOST) PROFESSIONAL GARDENER

Very pleased to see the progress in my garden. The vegetable patch has an almost professional look to it. Although the initial outlay for the garden was quite a bit, now we are reaping the rewards.

Chives - quite difficult to cultivate from seeds - but managed to do it after 2 unsuccessful attempts.

After numerous threats to cut the tree down if it does not bear any fruits, the tree finally yield its first fruits.
