STRANGE FRUITS

Was up in Kundasang this morning. Much has changed since lasted visited this place. For one thing, there are now so many other stalls selling all kinds of stuff that you usually fing in tamus. It used to be only fruit and vegetables stalls. Sigh.... progress.... Anyway, as we strolled passed the stalls, we find 2 strange looking fruits. I nudged at dad, "You  dare to eat that?" I challenged him. "I DARE ANYTHING !!" he answered. Upon this, we bought these.........

This is called the Velvet Apple or buah Epal Baldu. The skin is furry - almost velevty. We are told it tastes sweetish sourish.
This fruit is called Sweet Creamy or buh Lemak Manis, The skin is smooth almost like mango.

Will let you know how they taste. Am not looking forward to them - I'm far from adventurous. Sometimes when I watched the TV shows on exotic places and food, I shuddered at the fare offered. I always wondered how those tv programme host managed to take them in. Did they spit the food out later after the shooting?

PS : Just cut the velvet apple. The fruit has hints of passion fruit, strawberry, guava and tarap. The texture is between pear and custard apple. Not my kind of fruits. Dad is gamely trying to consume it.

The Buah Lemak Manis or Creamy Sweet is a cross between pumpkin and mango in texture. Has a vibrant orange colour. Dad declares that the flavour improves as one eats it. Hmmmm
