When I was a child, every Chinese New Year, our Hakka neighbour would bring us a special dish. It was so delicious that we children would wait with eager anticipation for Ah Sam's visit. Strange though, we never thought of asking her for the recipe. Thus every time I see yam in the market, visions of that delicious yam dish would come to my mind. My husband , who by the way, is a Hakka, said he had never heard of the dish. And every Hakka I met in Sabah also said they've never heard of that dish. There were puzzled looks - is this a figment of my imagination? nevertheless, I persisted. Now, thanks to the internet, I managed to track down the delicious dish - complete with recipe.
