My friends have been pestering me to have a party at our house during this Hari Raya break. I decided it was time to host a wine and cheese party. Naturally the invitation evoked considerable curiosity as many have never attended such a party before. 15 people were invited ( to make it manageable). Took 2 days to assemble all the necessary stuff. First was to shop for the right wines and liquor as well as the juices, geradine for the cocktails. Then it was the selection of the cheese and meats and all the titbits to accompany the drinks. Fortunately dad was ever ready to drive me to and fro to the different supermarkets as I made my purchases.
7 different types of cheese were selected based on flavour and variety, and to it I also had some date and sweet relish, pate, tuna as spreads.

Then the decoration for the table. And of course, I had to try out the drinks first. Left to right - 'Seabreeze" ( a concoction of vodka, grapefruit juice, cranberry juice and lime juice) .Next is pineapple daiquiri and last is kiwi daiquiri. Not in the photo is 'moscow mule' - a concoction of bailey, vodka and lime juice. And of corse, dad gamely offered to be the 'guinea pig' to try out the different concoctions! ( he survived!!)
Chocolates and cocktail bites ( ham, onion and cucumber) were placed on a separate section. They were finished in no time!!
My guests had a wonderful time trying out the different cheese and accompaniments.
Dr. Goh ( the lady on the left) contributed shepherd's pie. Everyone had a good time and of course, the spirits contributed to the good spirits!! For many, it had been a good experience. Dad enjoyed himself immensely. It was an elegant gathering of fine wine and good conversation. For me, I'm glad to have hosted this party as my way of saying, "Thanks everyone, for your support and friendship!"
