December 31 saw us in Keningau. The office was surprised to see me as I was supposed to be on leave but I was more worried about the ongoing projects. The contractors were asking to be paid. So dad and I went to check the projects. We had been given some allocation to develop a site for team building and endurance camp. Dad helped to check the quality of work and the sturdiness of the Flying Fox Tower
He was tempted to slide on the Flying Fox - Jackie Chan style . Ahem... some other time perhaps........
Then we did a bit of jungle trekking to check on other stations.
The jungle was a living classroom. have you seen a shampoo plant? During the Japanese era, the people used to make pulp from these twines and use them as shampoo. 
Watch out for the spikes in the rattan twine. They can rip your shirt. Rattan vines grow in abundance here.
Everything seem to be in order. So back to the office to sign those vouchers.....
At the end of the day, we drove home. In the evening, new year messages started to filter in. Strangely, dad's phone was very quiet. He realised to his horror, that he had left the phone back in Keningau. So early January 1, 2010, we drove back to Keningau to retrieve the phone.
It wasn't so bad - we were there and back in KK in 4 hours - and managed to squeeze in breakfast . Very tasty porridge and the most yummy char siew pau ever.....

A note of caution - do not ever try this feat -To drive up and contour the Crocker Range in 4 hours.A Happy and Blessed New Year to each and everyone. may it be a year of joy, happiness and meaningful achievements.
