Finally got to view the film DVC. After all the hype about it, I expected to be challenged on issues pertaining the Christian faith. However, it turned out to be a non-issue. In fact, like dad said, it was more like the genre of those Chinese semi-historical novels ( those Wu Xia Siau Sok). To me it's more along the lines of "Raiders of the Lost Ark". This time, the hero instead of an archeologist, was a symbologist. Tom Hanks was a bit stiff in his role, as compared to Harrison Ford's more dashing and masculine style. When it came to the part when the 'truth' was revealed, "You, Sophie, is the Holy Grail, the Sangreal", we nudged each other - it was just too pat. Any thinking person can see that it's just an action novel. 50 million copies were sold - sign .. if I had wriiten the book, think of how much I could have made...... Certainly the author profiited by all the hooha surrounding the movie. Is it worth demonstrating or killing in protest of it? Not so, in my opinion. However, one good thing that emerged from it - it makes people question and look for answers about the Christian faith - it's a faith that can stand the test of scrutiny. See the film with an open mind.
