When the letter came that I was to attend a meeting in Langkawi, everybody commented - "Wah! have a good holiday puan!" " Oh boy, you're going to have a wonderful time". Nothing can be further than that. From KLIA we landed in Alor Star ( as all the direct flights to Langkawi were fully booked). We took a taxi to Kuala Perlis and from there took an hour's ferry ride to Langkawi. Upon reaching the 'famed' island, we took a taxi to our hotel. The taxi driver said, "Maaflah, itu hotel kita panggil hotel kursus - memang teruk" Sure enough, when I checked into the room, there was no iron nor hairdryer. upon asking, the housekeeping replied, "Sorry ma'am, we don't provide hairdryer but there's an ironing room at 4th Floor." What! No such basics? grumble, grumble... worse to come - no tissue - only 1/2 a roll of toilet tissue.. grrr...and the bedsheets leaves much to be desired in terms of crispness. Here are some evidences of their "terukness".

What a letdown ! The management went so far as to have different coloured slippers for fear of them being stolen.

The only saving grace were the cheap, cheap imported items Bags, Liquor, Chocolates, Corningware. Baileys was only RM49.00. I would go back again but not to this Hotel!!
