HAPPY TEACHERS DAY

Was in Kuala Trengganu the last 3 days for the nation-wide teacher's day celebration. This year's teachers' Day theme is "Guru Pembina Negara Bangsa" - translated "Teachers as builders of national race". A heavy responsibility indeed. Various activities were lined up such as .......

The grand finale was of course the launching of the event and award of "Tokoh Guru" I am glad that Mr. Phua Seng Tiong, the retired principal of SM Jinjang was honoured. Mr Phua was instrumental in turning around SM Jinjang, a notorious school in Jinjang (located in a new village near Kuala Lumpur), from being the last school in Malaysia in terms of SPM performance to one of the top school in Malaysia. Many principals drew their inspiration from him. His hard work and dedication to the cause of education is an example to teachers ; His famous quote : "The HEART of education is the education of the HEART." After he retired he served as pastor in the church.

Here we all - sitting 'kwai-kwai' waiting for the guest of honour to arrive. The stage was beautifully decorated ........ the ceremony started with much pomp, flashing lights etc....but what puzzled us was the gimmick to launch the event .......... can you guess what was the object ?
