As our institute will be celebrating her silver jublee this year, we decided that it would be appropriate to name our hall in honour of the man who alienated a piece of land for the setting up of the teacher training institute. So we made an appointment to see the grand old man : Tan Sri Suffian Koroh - who was the Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Agriculture in his heyday ( he's 80 years now)
So we brought some fruits ( always a safe choice) and an entourage of us went to his house. (Puan Sri was a gracious hostess)
An interview with Tan Sri - and he related the inside story of how the institut which was originally earmarked for Tawau, came to be sited in Keningau instead. Talk about timing and providence....
Tan Sri was quite a joker, amusing us with episodes of his service in the political arena during the 'Berjaya' era - being the 'blue-eyed boy' of Datuk Harris. Now he amuses himself with the latest health fave - only the idle rich can indulge in.
So if anyone is planning to visit Sabah, April would be ideal as our institute will don her best colours for the silver jubilee.
