TWO IN ONE - EXTREMELY BUSY WEEK

Having 2 big function in a week is just too much. First, our IPG had the launching of the Merdeka month celebration. Inspite of the lack of funds, we managed to improvise and the students re-enacted the scene of the country's independence. There was the lowering of the Union Jack and the raising of the new flag (now known as the Jalur Gemilang). We sang lots of patriotic songs. No tea party as it was the puasa month.

The second day, we hosted the convoy of 46 vehicles from various Government agencies, NGOs and private sector. from Biro Tata Negara (BTN). Almost 500 outsiders were at our IG that night. The buka puasa was of course paid for by BTN. So all my students were treated to a free meal. The convoy put up a night in our IPG (free of charge). The next day was the grand send-off. Datuk Jahid Jahim, the Deputy Minster for Youth and Sports was invited to flag off the event on behalf of Datuk Pairin Kitingan. Datuk Jahid was an old 'friend' - he being the District Officer in Tuaran when I was serving there. His children studied in my school and his wife was a committee member of our PTA. It was nice to reminise our past days in Tuaran.
