SK TUDAN

Last Saturday, I followed the Minister's entourage to a remote kampung for the launching of Solar hybrid project. The school, SK Tudan is actually within the territory of Tuaran but somehow, it was more convenient to reach there via Penampang. Our land cruiser climbed Gunung Emas, which is part of Crocker Range. Gunung Emas is where you can find the Rafflesia flower - our family used to stop in a small restaurant nestled at the hill for hot tea before proceeding to Tambunan. Well, it was an interesting but arduous ride to SK Tudan. About 45 miles from KK, we turn to a small track, and soon find ourselves on a bumpy ride as there was no proper road - just a mud-track. There were jokes that we don't need an OSIM massage chair as the ride has given our bodies a proper shake! But when we reached the kampung - wow! It was like Kundasang. The air was so cool and fresh. The kampong actually sits on the Crocker Range. Here are some photos .

Trying to rally some enthusiasm among the students. They were painfully shy. Many of them have not even been to Kota Kinabalu. According to an officer, they had to conduct a special 'cleaning and bathing' project to prepare the kids for the VIP arrival - otherwise the smell can be overpowering.
