DAD'S BIRTHDAY BASH
Alicia hosted a dinner for the members of the family in KL. The food at the Hakka Restaurant along Jalan Raja Chulan was good indeed. All authentically Hakka! Apart from Hui Si, Hui Min (and spouses) and Hui Suan, we were glad that my brother John and his family were able to join us, as well as Tai Tai and Lim Fan. It was a wonderful time of reunion and fellowship.
The surprise came at the end of the dinner when a cake was brought in - much to the surprise of the 'birthday boy' - dad, of course. It was indeed unexpected .[The day before (in Penang,) we 3 ladies celebrated his birthday with a slice of banana cake - and improvised toothpicks as candles!! ] The cake - "Happy Birthday - Forever Young Uncle" was the brainchild of his nieces.
Dad, being a doting uncle, was swamped with hugs and kisses from his nieces ( and Suan did a disappearing act!)
The older ladies, not to be outdone, also 'showered him' with "kisses" of some sort!!
Little ones were not left out and joined in the fun of blowing out the candles.
After dinner, we adjourned to the Concorde Hotel for some entertainment of 'live music', and cuban cigars. So here he is... puffing away his first cigar with Leon and Hui Si!! Looking so urbane indeed! And so we sipped our cocktails, chatting away .......... and then the band began to play a birthday music.
Another surprise awaited the 'birthday boy' when the band singer sang a birthday song ....... and announced "To Mr. Alfred Lee" . Another cake was brought in, to the stage and presented to dad. Everyone in the room clapped. Dad couldn't believe it and I was equally stunned ( and forgot to take any photo) It was truly a most unusual birthday bash for dad. Thanks to all who planned and chipped in to make this birthday celebration such a memorable one.

Serene, the doting wife kissed your dad (or was she kissed by your dad) on the stage surrounded by the band members. Like movie stars :P
